"2014 May 13. Rap Monster’s log. The ended a while ago. After filming the show, I reached the conclusion that I am just me. I’m not an idol, I’m not an artist, I’m not hip hop, not anything. I am just me. I am Rap Monster. I am Kim Namjoon. I don’t know why I wanted to categorize myself or set regulations for myself- I guess any human may want this….but after finishing this show, I realized that I am just me. I’m just a new person. If someone thinks of me as an idol, then I can be an idol. If someone thinks I am hip hop, then I can be hip hop. If someone thinks of me as an artist, then I can be an artist. But I think this is more of something that I, myself, was longing for. I think it was really obvious that I was confused and lost, but I think life is about being lost. Life is just a series of continuous wandering, and I think this is especially true for me right now because I am young. I think it was valuable, and as a human being- as Kim Namjoon- I think it is definitely reasonable. It’s normal. Everyone feels lost at times and worries about themselves- about where they are going. Everyone is confused about where they should belong- everyone goes through it. I think I encountered these events a little earlier than others because of my debut. Anyway, I am just me, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I have a strong connection to the song ‘Too Much,’ and it’s because of that song that I filmed the . It’s because of that song that I cried and smiled on the inside. It’s because of that song that I was criticized by many people…and many people worried about me…including my mom, my dad, and other people. This song let me experience many different feelings. With the release of a new song, ‘Unpack Your Bags,’ I hope that people will pay more attention to the meaning of the lyrics if they are curious about me. Because my current thoughts, my current mind, and my current attitude are all in that song. So, if someone is curious about me, I hope they pay attention to the meaning of the lyrics. When I make music, I try to make something that gets people thinking for a long time. Lyrics that are catchy and easy to understand the first time are ok too, but I think it is my job to make people think “Oh, this is what it means” or “Oh, so this is what he was trying to say,” and I think it will bring me fans who will stick by me for a long time. I am just me. Because that is the most important thing to me…that I am me. I think I need to close my eyes and ears, try to bring more of myself out from the inside, just do what I can, and keep going on my own path. Because I am just me. I'm really amazed at his maturity and openness with his fans, he seems to be concerned with the way people see him as (idol vs artist) but he's more conveiced that no one knows him better than himself. came back here after watching his ep on the 4 Things Show and just... well, i don't really know what to say... just, i already have massive respect for this guy (Rap Monster) ever since Bangtan's debut and it just doubled right now... i have no idea how hard it is to be an idol (and i will never will, i have my assumptions but yeah) but i know how difficult it is to keep it real even when you're just a "normal" person... To Rap Mon, uh, well, there are lots of people who are proud of your work and look up to you, but really no pressure, hahaha... I think it's so lovely that all the Intl Fans are so in tune with Rapmon and his feelings despite the language barrier. No matter where you are we feel for Namjoon and his struggles and we all want to protect him and the rest of BTS. He's so young and yet i feel that his mental level is beyond his years. The reason I like your music is because I am able to feel and absorb what you are trying to express, not because it is 'idol music' or 'hiphop music'. Same applies to how I see you, you are neither 'idol rapmon' nor 'hiphop ranchranda'. You are Kim Namjoon, a person whom makes music that I like.
