They make everything to have several meanings and I'm happy they do not tell the boys the truth. It could make them sad. For example there is a theory that "old car bought by JM" symbolizes the cars in which Jews were brought to crematoriums, and the pile of drums and the drummer boy - thousands of boys with drums who perished in the II world war. Why should the boys know it, anyway? Let them be happy and be able to create music.
