As a member yes yoongi is underrated. But he is still appreciated a lot for his rap. Armies always praise him for that. This mixtape esp Daechwita is popular and known by most of the armies. RM's the one who's underrated both as a member and for his rap. I bet most armies don't even know that RM is actually the fastest rapper in BTS. Idk why they get surprised. Yes yoongi raps fast, it's his style but RM has the fastest rap. (RM-9.88 sps, AgustD-9.38 dps). People often base their opinions on RM's Mono without even listening to his older works!!! Heck even people of other fandoms acknowledge him as one of the best rappers of Kpop (If not, the best). People need to stop sleeping on his rapping skills. You're part wrong, while Namjoon isn't rather underrated, he's underappreciated. Most ARMY's turn a blind eye to his talent, some some downright say that he isn't needed in the group. His solo work has never been recognized on a big scale, but CNS has always been recognized by ARMY and Daechwita reached #1 on iTunes. The vocal line's solo work is always talked about in the ARMY community. However, almost no one talks about RM's work, new or old. People know he is great and praise him for holding up BTS, but they fail to realize how hard he's worked and how much effort he puts into making a song. Please tell fellow ARMY's to stop overlooking him, and help spread his work. 👏Kim Namjoon is one of the most valuable people on this Earth, Appreciate him more👏! ~ 💜🐨

I have been an army since 2016 and the love and appreciation for him is on the clouds now compared to that time :) and mono has like 118 1’s and that’s very impressive and I know he has helped many people with his music. Maybe u just are on the wrong tl or something, maybe he’s not the most popular member but I can tell u that everyone knows how talented he is and I see many people loving him and I think he knows that bc u can see it on him. He knows that people will listen to him and he loves music so he will never stop making it 🥺

One opinion is that he is not underrated but rather underappreciated, because, while there is no denying that many people respect and admire his work, he isn't as appreciated as he deserves to be. Proof of that statement is that his mixtapes didn't receive the same praise and didn't have the same achievements as the mixtapes of the fellow Rap line members, despite having been praised as well. On top of that, his mixtape isn't as wellknown in the fandom and the general public as the other members' mixtapes. The reason for this could be that his music isn't as "melodic" and "memorable" as the music of Suga (less) and J-hope (primarily), which means that they include vocal parts in their songs, parts able to be sang or rapped more easily by the listener. This doesn't mean that their songs are easy, they are actually extremely hard, especially Agust D's. RM, on the other hand, raps usually for the whole song (as in 'Joke' for instance) or for the majority of a song, making it hard for someone to keep up, since rapping 6 and more syllables per second isn't exactly what you call easy. That, of course, isn't a bad thing at all, it's just the way he writes and chooses to write his music, which might not be as catchy as Suga's and especially J-hope's, but still has such a memorable and unique tone to it.

He's underrated because the hip-hop community doesn't listen to K-pop, its a very insular community. Most will not give him a chance because of where he comes from, and speaking a different language when the largest audience is mostly English speaking. Also, the other rappers in BTS are just average, so that doesn't help either.
