Despite facing racism and various obstacles, especially as Asians in the Western world, they have taught us to ‘Speak Yourself.’ As someone of Asian descent (South Korean and Japanese, from my father’s side), born in Brazil, I know firsthand the challenges my family and I have faced. Seeing these seven young guys breaking records and barriers, even while on hiatus, is beyond words. BTS is more than a band, they are catalysts for change, inspiring this and future generations. Their songs, words, videos, and lives pulled me out of my second deep depression-something only those who’ve experienced it can truly understand. So, again, they are not just a boy band with handsome faces, incredible voices, and spectacular dancing skills, but special individuals with a purpose for being here. I doubt even they fully grasp the weight of their importance to millions of people. I love you guys.
